As a nurse for almost 30 years, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings which include: internal medicine, cardiac critical care, anesthesia, perioperative, and obstetrical anesthetic care. The majority of my clinical career centered around caring for service members, veterans, and their families. I am grateful for this clinical experience as it left a lasting impact on me of the importance of self-care and mental wellness is. And so, my interest and journey of working with clients toward better mental health began. I returned to school at Vanderbilt University to complete my post master's certificate in psychiatric mental health. I am a board certified Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatric Mental Health and have a PhD in Nursing Science. I consider myself a life long learner, always reading, learning, and taking courses to advance my practice. I have a special interest in women's mental health across the lifespan, individuals affected by trauma, and sleep disturbances. I am passionate about what I do and take great pleasure in working alongside clients on their path towards better mental health. I take a holistic approach to mental health, focusing on the whole person. I'm often described as empathic, non-judgmental, respectful, supportive, and easy to talk to.
I treat most mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, ADD/ADHD, and sleep disturbances. I use evidence-based, and integrative approaches to care that include lifestyle and behavioral change, in addition to medications when appropriate and safe. I practice a client-centered collaborative approach in which we work together to make treatment and medication decisions that include your preferences and values.
Outside the office I enjoy walking, hiking, running, biking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
